Bring in your favourite game, or play one of the games we have open in the store. We have games such as Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Risk 2210, and Ticket to Ride. We occassionally open new games as well to try them out.

Come alone or bring your friends. It's cheaper than going out to the movies (it's free), and you don't have to clean up afterwards! Don't worry if you can't show up right at 5pm, new games start whenever we get enough interested people, and we have space for lots of games at the same time. Come on in and enjoy a nice cold pop in our air conditioned gaming area - beat the heat and have some fun.

Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament

Tell your friends - lets get a regular Yu-Gi-Oh scene happening in South Vancouver. Please note the new summer start time of 2:30pm.

Bring in your minimum 40 card deck, with at most 3 of any one card. This tournament will be "Advanced Format". Please check www.yugioh-card.com for a list of forbidden and limited cards. Side decks of exactly 15 cards are optional. Tournament will start approximately at 2:30pm if we have at least 4 players, please try to arrive at least 15 minutes early.

Enrty Fee: $2.50

We had a good mix of experienced and new players in June. So if you're newer to Magic - there are several people here to help you learn. If you're brand new, or haven't played in a long while - come into the store a bit early, and we can run you through the draft process, and maybe help you get in a few practice games with some store decks.

This will be our first DCI sanctioned event. It is a Ravnica, Guildpact, Dissension booster draft. Don't worry if you don't have a DCI number - we can set you up with one before the tournament.

Price: $15

Prizes for top 2: approximately 70%/30% split

Magic the Gathering Tournament

Please note the new day and time for these casual type 2 tournaments - Saturday's at 1pm.

Format is Type 2 - that means that your minimum 60 card deck must consist only of cards that are currently being printed in one of the following sets (you may use older versions of the cards, as long as they have been re-printed in one of these sets).

Entry fee is: $2

If you're new to the game - this is a good time to come in and discover the tournament scene. We'll lend you one of the store decks if you don't have one of your own. (NOTE: Store decks are made entirely out of common cards and basic lands. You can purchase these decks for $3 tax included if you like them.)

We'll set the tables up for miniatures games and let the chips fall where they may. We have three 4'x4' tables, a 3'x4' coffee table, and a couple of 6'x2.5' folding tables that we can set up if needed. We also have some terrain pieces and maps that people can use.

So if you play Warmachine, Confrontation, Star Wars Minis, D&D Minis, Heroclix, or Mechwarrior - come on in for a pick-up game. If no one else can - the guys behind the counter will always try to get in a game or two.

The Connection is climate controlled - so come in and beat the heat. Bring your friends and your minions for a little miniature mayhem.

Once we know who you are and what you like to play - we can schedule more events for those games and include prizes.

Magic The Gathering Coldsnap Release Event

This will be a DCI sanctioned Limited (sealed deck) event consisting entirely of Coldsnap product.  Each player will be given 5 packs of Coldsnap with which to construct a deck - the store will provide any additional basic lands required.  We will run 5 rounds of Swiss (or less depending on the turn out).

NOTE: This is NOT an official Wizards of the Coast sponsored release event - we will not be giving out the release card (sorry).

We will however make it worth your while to attend - the more people we get, the bigger the prize pool.

Entry Fee: $20 (includes your 5 packs of Coldsnap which you keep).

Prize structure:

  • 2-8 people: 1st - 70%, 2nd - 30%
  • 9+ people: prizes for the top 4

Seating will be limited to the first 32 players to register, so register online below to secure yourself a spot.

Warmachine Tournament / Demo

If we can get at least 4 people with an assembled box set force (approximately 300 points) in the store by Noon, we will hold a tournament. If we fail to achieve the minimum required - we'll just run casual games and demos. The Press-Ganger will be on-site again to help with any rules or game questions.

If you've never played Warmachine or paintable miniatures before - this is a great event to come in and learn about the hobby.

We have a nice climate controlled gaming environment, and we can run up to 4 tables simultaneously (maybe 5 in a pinch). Come check it out.

Magic The Gathering Night at The Connection

Format: Booster Draft (3x Coldsnap)

We continue to work through the process with Wizards of the Coast to obtain the official FNM support. In the meantime, we will continue to run DCI sanctioned events each Friday night - so at least you get points (if we get at least 8 people).

For August, we're lowering our draft price to $12.50. (It will still be $4 if you bring your own packs.) Prize pool will still be the same - one booster per entrant with approximately 70% going to first and 30% to second.

Vs. System Booster Draft

This is a Vs. Hobby League Event (not sanctioned).

We have the foil participation and prize cards for the month of August. Each new participant in the month will receive one of the foil participation cards, and the top 4 finishers in each weekly event also receive a special foil prize card.

For booster draft each player is given 3 booster packs. Players open a pack, select one card, and pass the pack to their right. Continue selecting and passing until the first packs are used up. Second pack passes to the left, third to the right. Players then construct their decks with the cards they drafted and play matches to determine the winners. You keep all the cards you drafted.

Entry fee: $15 - includes the booster packs.

Prizes for 1st through 4th place.

Pokemon Unlimited - Constructed Event

We have an official Pokemon League - come join us for some Pokemon fun.

Format will be Unlimited-Constructed which means - you need to bring a 60 card deck. The deck can contain any amount of energy cards and up to 4 copies each of any other card. Play different opponents and earn points - 10 points per game with 10 bonus points if you win. Earn enough points to get prizes! This is casual / league play - it is not a sanctioned tournament and will not affect or earn you any ratings points.  For more information on league play - please refer to the Pokemon-TCG web-site.

Entry fee: Free!!! (for the month of August while we get things started)

Prizes: Based on your point totals - the more you play, the more you get. For example at 150 points you earn a special 2-card POP booster pack.

For the month of August we will run these events in the afternoon - in the fall we will switch to after-school friendly hours.
