From the Anime Evolution Web-Site :

"Anime Evolution 2009 at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre is
Vancouver's premiere Asian popular cultural event where audiences and
industry interact directly in an informal setting.

The three-day convention is expected to draw close to 5,000 people
and brings together art, animation (anime), comic books (manga), video
games, film and music in a celebration of Asian popular culture and
multimedia.

Convention attendees can attend Q&A's and workshops with voice
actors, directors, artists, animators, comic books publishers and game
developers.

Video screenings, video game rooms, a cultural festival and live
performances by DJs, bands and improv actors are sure to keep guests
thoroughly entertained."

We'll be at the show in a big way this year as a sponsor - with a booth in the main hall, and running 2 events - a free (with registration) Naruto TCG sealed deck event on Saturday, and an Anima Tactics tournament on Sunday.

Start: 6:45 pm
End: 11:00 pm

Friday Night Magic - Granville St.

Format: Booster Draft

Draft price of $15.00. ($5 if you bring your own packs.)  We put one booster pack into the prize pool for each person in the draft.

  • 1st place: Foil prize card, 70% of prize pool (approximate)
  • 2nd place: Foil prize  card, 30% of prize pool (approximate)
  • 2 randmon door prizes of foil prize cards

NOTE: If we have 14 or more people in the draft, we will split into 2 pods with prize split for the top 2 in each pod.

If you're not sure how to draft, come in early or on another day and we'll be happy to explain it to you.  In a nutshell - you get 3 booster packs, open your pack, pick a card, and pass it to the person next to you.  You continue picking and passing until you have 45 cards which you keep.  You build a minimum 40 card deck from the cards you selected - the store provides the basic lands (please remember to return them at the end of the night).  Then we play a small tournament to determine the winner.

These are DCI sanctioned events.  Straight swiss - no cut.
