News
- Magic the Gathering - Standard (T2) at The Connection on Victoria Dr. Starting in January we will be running "un-official" Friday Night Magic events - we did not get our act together in time to make these official events. We will work during January to make these official events in February if we can. We will have some foils from past events to give out in January as prize support.
- SALE Continues: Axis & Allies Guadal Canal, and Axis & Allies Battle of the Bulge Board Games. Both of these variants of the classic Axis & Allies game are great additions to anyones collections. While supplies last they are on sale for $35.00 taxes included! Theses games normally sell
for well over $50. - Yu-Gi-Oh! update - Upper Deck won the first round in the legal battle with Konami over the right to produce and distribute Yu-Gi-Oh! in North America and Europe. So it looks like there will be no changes to organized play or our supply chain in the near future. Hobby league, Shonen Jumps, regionals and all other events will continue as planned. Speaking of Hobby League, Champion Pack Game 8 arrives in early January (expected on the 5th), so we will be using those for prizes as soon as they arrive.
- World of Warcraft Miniatures - our official hobby league kit is scheduled to arrive on January 15th. We will be running events every Thursday in January using older prize support (from the release kit) plus store credit until the kit arrives.
- The Wizards of the Coast promotions started in December continue in January while we still have the bonus materials.
- Buy any box of Magic the Gathering boosters and receive a Euro Lands pack.
- Buy any Wizards of the Coast branded D&D product and receive a Dungeons of Dread D&D Minis booster pack for free.
- Buy any Wizards of the Coast branded Star Wars product and receive an Alliance and Empires Star Wars Minis booster pack for free.

Special Wizards of the Coast Promotions in December:
A big thanks and happy holidays from our friends at Wizards of the Coast - they have 3 special promotions for us this month:
- Dungeons & Dragons: Starting Friday Dec 19th and while supplies last, purchase any Wizards of the Coast D&D brand product and receive a D&D Minis - Dungeons of Dread booster pack for free.
- Magic the Gathering: Starting now, buy any booster box of Magic and receive a Euro Lands pack for free while supplies last. The Euro lands are 1 each of each basic land with art depciting famous locations from Europe. This promotion is available at the Granville location only.
- Star Wars: Starting Dec 26th and while supplies last, purchase any Wizards of the Coast Star Wars brand product, and receive a Star Wars Minis Alliance and Empire booster pack for free.
Our Annual Boxing Day Sale at both stores:
Almost everything in the store is at least 10% off (excluding Magic the Gathering and Infinity products). We will have a special table set up with door crasher specials including items discounted up to 40% off of our normal price. And, we're trying something new this year - we'll be putting special coloured stickers on items in the store. If you purchase over $100 before taxes and discounts, the stickered items will get an additional percentage off. For example, green stickered items will get 15% off, and red stickers will get 20% off (sticker colours may vary). Selected Games Workshop items will be red stickers, and selected Warmachine models will be green stickers. Items that we know for sure will be on the door crasher table include:
- The Dungeon Crawl Classics D&D 3.5 Modules from Goodman Games (any remaining stock)
- Universal Fighting System TCG - all remaining stock.
- The Spoils TCG - all remaining stock.
- Selected older Pokemon booster packs.
- Selected board and card games - including at least one copy of Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne (or similar popular games) at each store.
- Selected older L5R TCG packs and decks.
- Selected AT-43 items.
Exact product mix at each location will vary depending on available stock.
News:
A couple of news bulletins that have come to our attention:
- World of Warcraft Miniatures Deluxe Starters: Due to a collation error, not all Deluxe Starters contain the loot card that is supposed to be in them. Upper Deck has set up a redemption program, so that if you did not receive your loot card, you can send away for it. You can find all of the details here.
- Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that effective immidiately it is taking over all operational and business aspects of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG from Upper Deck Entertainment. The ramifications of this decision are still unclear with respect to impact on local players. For now it seems that all planned events will continue to go ahead as scheduled. We'll try to keep you up to date if things change in the future.
- Pokemon City Champs announced at Craving for a Game in Surrey on Saturday January 3rd - 10:30am.
- Prize support for World of Warcraft Miniatures games on Thursdy nights - we have received another prize kit from Upper Deck, so we will be adding these items to the weekly prizes. Additional items will include maps, monster dice, monster bases, and in January we'll give away another of the vinyl game mats. We'll add at least something for 1st and 2nd place each week in addition to the store credit for the winner.
Happy Holidays Everyone!

- Announcing Infinity! Infinity is a high tech skirmish game that re-creates intense special ops
battles from the rooftops of futuristic cities to barren outposts on forgotten
worlds. Using a revolutionary system where it's always your turn makes this game
fast, fun and constantly engaging. You only need a handful of models to play so
getting your force together is quick and easy. We'll be announcing a demo day in December as soon as we can - so keep an eye on our Calendar of Events, and come by our Victoria Dr. store in December to check out this great game. - Wizkids is no more. Looks like we have the first game copmany casualty of the economic downturn. Read the official announcement here. There is speculation that a buyer will be found for at least the Heroclix brand, and we hope this is true. We will continue to run our planned Heroclix events in December, but sad news indeed.
- We will be closing early on Christmas Eve - 6pm, and we will be closed Christmas Day at both locations.
- D&D Minis changes planned for 2009. Wizards of the Coast has announced a change in their approach to D&D minis to better support the role-playing game. This means no more support for the skirmish game (with stat cards), but it's hoped that fans will pick up the slack and continue to create "official" stat cards. The official announcement is here.
- We don't have the official battlegrounds kits yet, but we can't wait. We'll be running World of Warcraft Miniatures on Thursday night at the Connection on Granville. Get in on the ground floor with this great game and start playing now.
- BOXING DAY SALE: Our annual Boxing Day sale at both stores. Discounts from 10% to 50% off on selected items, and yes we will have FNM at Granville on Boxing Day.

40k Game Day a huge success!
On september 6th 2008 the Connection Games hosted it's first ever monthly Game Day. Celebrating the release of the famed Black Reach starter box and running demo events all day long, it was a day to be remembered. After running full 1000pt demo games all day and getting everyone used to the new rules we even had a Forgeworld Hierophant for everyone to fight against in a final mega-battle!!
The Connection Games would like to thank a few people that, without their help, the event would not have been able to happen.
James Rosso brought his fantastic tyranide army and ran the mega-battl!
James Morrison ran demo's all day and brought a beautiful sisters of battle army and a chaos army!
Neil pinkerton also ran demo's all day and brought his huge blood angels army and a cool tyranide foce!
Cory Laycock, our resident Grey Knight, ran painting demo's and brought a built black reach box for people to try out!
Everyone who came out, tried the game and helped make our first Game Day a huge success!
