July Events

[acidfree:200] Wow - June went by quickly. Big props to all those people that made it out to the store for our June events. We finally have our sign up - yay! It's already making a difference in terms of the number of people finding us.

We've submitted the paperwork - so hopefully in July we'll start having access to prize support from Wizards of the Coast. I also received my tournament organizer kit, so now we can easily sanction our Magic, Star Wars Minis, and other DCI sanctionable games. Our full July Calendar is now posted!

Highlights in July include:

Note: we have to limit most events to 32 people.  If you want to reserve yourself a spot - please sign up online.

June Events Posted

A quick note to let you know that our June Calendar of events has been posted. We're running Magic Type 2 and draft, Heroclix, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Vampire the Requiem this month (The VTR event may turn into a D&D event - let us know if you have a preference.)  The Warmachine demo day and sale is on June 25th.

Check out the "Calendar of Events" link to see the details, and log-in to register on-line for events. On-line registrants will be given preference (spots will be held till five minutes before event start times) should any events reach capacity.

We hope to see you in the store.  If you have other events you'd like to see us run, please let me know by e-mail to mjones(ar)tcgaa.ca.

We're Open

May 19 - OutsideJust a quick note to those of you checking the web-site - we're open (at long last). Took a little longer than planned, but we've done it. Thanks very much to all the Magic players that showed up for the draft on Friday night - I hope you all had fun.

I took some pictures of opening night and they are posted in the Gallery section now. If you want to know what our store hours, location, or phone number are check out the "About The Connection" page.

May 18 Construction Update 4

[acidfree:143] We're almost there. A bunch of clean up to do today and a dry run through of the sales systems and we should be open tomorrow (sometime). We still have quite a few empty shelves, but it is starting to look like a real store.

We'll be running a (hopefully) sanctioned Magic the Gathering draft tomorrow night in the store if you are interested. Check out the Upcoming Events link FNM Link

Hope you can all stop by sometime.

May 9 - Construction Update 3

May 9 - Vancouver, BC. The people who said "The Devil is in the details", were right. It seems there is always one more thing to do...

[acidfree:136]

Big thanks to Mike Zimmerman for coming out on Sunday to give me a hand putting some finishing touches on the painting and getting the floor ready for polishing. The building inspectors are back today - hopefully we will pass final inspections so we can open for business.

I've received a lot but not all of my inventory so far. Still need to buy the food items and related supplies, and have to figure out some shelving system to display snacks etc...

Hopefully I'll be able to root out that devil and get all the little things done so we can open in the next few days. But, it won't be tomorrow as I had hoped. I'll post an article as soon as we are open - hopefully no later than Friday.

April 30 Construction Update

[acidfree:130]Well I guess in a time when construction people are very hard to find - I have been extremely lucky to have such great friends and family to help me out. Otherwise we would be even later than we are.

It looks like we'll have to push back the opening by at least a couple of days at this point (now planning for May 10). We still have to get the furniture ordered, and if it needs to be built or brought in - one week is probably a little tight. There are several other unknowns that could still throw a wrench into the works - so stay tuned. I'll try to post here as soon as I know if we have to delay again.

Thanks to everyone who helped me install the slat wall this weekend - Patrick, Mark, Charles, and Dad. Check out the new pictures in the Construction Photo gallery - if you want to see us hard at work.

We appreciate your patience - look forward to seeing you all in the store.
