Warhammer 40k:

Drop-in open tables on Wednesday nights.

Get ready for our Astro-mini-con on January 23rd - register in-store on online.  Only 10 spots available.

We're taking special orders for the upcoming releases from Games Workshop - ask in store.

 

COMICS

You can always see what we're expecting this/next week on our "& Comics" page. Are you following certain titles?  Ask about our subscription service - you can save at least 10% or more depending on how many titles you are interested in.  

 

BOARD GAMES

New in the store recently or expected soon:

Runewars Box Runewars - An Epic Fantasy Flight Empire building adventure game.  Check out the video preview on the Fantasy Flight games web-site.

Priests of Ra. A re-make of the Reiner Knizia game Ra - a classic auction game.  The new version contains some different scoring tiles that come up for auction.

Bushido From the Fantasy Flight Games web-site: "In Bushido players take on the roles of Daimyos, feudal lords in medieval Japan, and compete to become the next shogun of the empire, who gets appointed by the emperor. A game of resource management and conflict, the main goal is to earn enough honor, which can be achieved in different ways, either by holding provinces, winning battles, or through influential ceremonies. The first Daimyo who earns 50 points of honor wins the game.  Bushido is a board game of clever mechanics and subtle strategy."

Planet Steam. From the Fantasy Flight Games web-site: "The year is 2415 and the interplanetary federation is poised to conquer the planet Steam. The core of the planet consists of different resources, including water, and the time is right to extract these resources through the use of specialists, tactics, and trading. - Planet Steam is a strategy board game of resource management where players must compete to extract the precious resources of the planet and trade them for upgraded equipment and control of the planet. Planet Steam features an enormous game board, lots of high-quality components, including tokens, dice, cards, and colorful markers for each player."

Power Grid Brazil/Spain & Portugal Expansion - a new double sided map in a box to help with storage of this and other map expansions.

And remember, every Monday evening is board game night at Granville, and Tuesday night is board game night at Renfrew. Come in and try out some of these great games with other similarly inclined adults.

 

ROLE-PLAYING GAMES

Planned 4th edition D&D releases:

  • January 19th - D&D Player's Handbook Races: Dragonborn
  • January 19th - D&D Underdark

We may have a new 4th edition campaign starting at Granville - if you're interested in getting in on the ground floor, let us know.

We're still running regular D&D games on Saturday nights at the Granville store.  We're always looking for more DM's, so if you want to set up a game at either store any time, just send me an e-mail at info(at)tcgaa.ca - DM's get to take stuff from our goody box (one item per session).

Do you want us to carry an RPG title that we currently don't?  Send us an e-mail and we'll see if we can't bring it in for you.

 

CARD GAMES

Magic the Gathering:

  • Alara Block "Premium" all foil booster packs go on sale January 8th.
  • Worldwake - Pre-releases.  The big one is at BCIT Student Union Building on Saturday Jan 30th.  We'll have in-store events on Sunday January 31st. 11am at Granville and 1pm at Renfrew. 
  • Thursdays at Granville are casual league play - join the sealed league or just show up and play/trade to earn foil promo cards.
  • FNM is draft at both stores.  6pm (or so) at Renfrew, and 6:45pm at Granville.
  • Extended at Renfrew on Sundays.  We've got foil promo participation cards, and we'll run these as free tournaments to test out extended decks.  If there is enough interest, we'll add an entry fee and some additional prizes to the pool.

Yu-Gi-Oh!:

  • Twilight Edition - Light & Dark packs - including "Honest" goes on sale Tuesday January 5th! 
  • LOWER PRICES - in January we will be lowering our standard Yu-Gi-Oh! prices - starting with new releases but eventually we will update all products, keep your eye out for great deals.
  • We'll try one more month for duelist league for
    ages 13 and under continues at Granville on Saturdays. Duelist league is open play advanced format.  Players will
    receive special promo cardsjust for playing.
  • We'll be increasing the prize support at our weekly Wednesday night Yu-Gi-Oh! events (every Wednesday at 6pm).  Ask in store for details.

Pokemon:

  • Regular free Pokemon Hobby League continues on Sunday afternoons at the Granville store.  Promo Claydol's have arrived!
  • We will be running drafts or constructed tournaments each week after league if we have at least 8 interested people.  These will be sanctioned events.  Tournaments will start at approximately 2pm.
  • City Champs - Saturday January 9th at Wisers in Langley.
  • Next set - Heart Gold & Soul Silver is due out in February - we'll post pre-release info as soon as we know it.

Chaotic:

  • Stay tuned for information re the Fire & Stone pre-release.  We'll post on our calendar as soon as we know more details.

Legend of the Five Rings:

  • Street date for Harbinger is January 19th.  Join us at Renfrew on Thursday January 21st for our release party.
  • L5R casual nights: Tuesdays at Granville, Thursdays at Renfrew.

World of Warcraft TCG:

  • NEW: Well, we're bringing it back!  Sundays at Renfrew starting at approximately 12:30 - come check out the new Battlegrounds events.  Lots of prizes and promos, in a new player friendly environment.
