BOARD GAMES

New in the store recently or expected soon:

At the Gates of Loyang. The new Uwe Ronsenberg title follows along in a similar theme to his previous titles Agricola and Le Havre.  If you liked these titles, you'll want to check out this game.  Designed for 1-4 experienced gamers, the game is expected in the store in late February or early March.

Race for the Galaxy: The Brink of War - from the Rio Grande web-site: "As conflicts spread, galactic prestige becomes all-important, both to extract concessions and to fend off attackers. Meanwhile, the Alien departure point is located and the Uplift Overseers arise. Can you build the most prosperous and powerful space empire in a galaxy on the brink of total war? This expansion adds new start worlds, goals, game cards, and rules for galactic prestige to Race for the Galaxy and its first two expansions, The Gathering Storm and Rebel vs Imperium. New solitaire game counters and drafting rules for six players are also provided."  This new expansion is expected in stores this spring. 

Dominion: Alchemy - from the Rio Grande web-site: "There are strange things going on in your basement laboratories. They keep calling up for more barrels of quicksilver, or bits of your hair. Well it's all in the name of progress. They're looking for a way to turn lead into gold, or at least into something better than lead. That lead had just been too good of a bargain to pass up; you didn't think, where will I put all this lead, what am I going to do with this lead anyway. Well that will all be sorted out. They're also looking for a universal solvent. If they manage that one, you will take whatever they use to hold it in and build a castle out of it. A castle that can't be dissolved! Now that's progress."  The game is expected some time this spring, and it is an expansion requiring a base game to play.

And remember, every Monday evening is board game night at Granville, and Tuesday night is board game night at Renfrew. Come in and try out some of these great games with other similarly inclined adults.

CARD GAMES

Magic the Gathering:

• Pro-Tour Qualifier San Juan - Extended Constructed.  Saturday March 6th at the Engineers Auditorium.
• Worldwake Game Day - Saturday March 6th at Granville - Standard Constructed.  Registration starts at 11am.  (We're trying to move this to Monday night March 8th so as not to conflict with the PTQ, so call or check the calendar for updates before you head in.)
• FNM is changing to Standard at Renfrew starting in March - start time 6pm (or so). Still draft at Granville with a 6:45pm start.
• We're taking pre-orders for Rise of the Eldrazzi booster boxes and fat packs (Apr 23rd release), and also for the duel decks Phyrexia vs. The Coalition (March 19th release).

Yu-Gi-Oh!:

• REGIONALS - Sunday March 21st at the Bonsor Recreation Complex.  Registration begins at 10am.
• Hobby League tournaments continue on Saturday night at Renfrew (6pm start).   $3.50 entry fee and we still have Turbo Pack 2 as prize support.
• THURSDAY Hobby League at Granville moved from Wednesday (starting in March) - $3.50, and they also have Turbo Pack 2 as prize support.
• Duelist Pack Collection mini-tin - due out March 9th. Each Duelist Pack Collection Tin 2010 includes 1 Secret Rare copy of "Starlight Road" as well as 3 packs of the latest Yusei set: Duelist Pack - Yusei 2, plus 1 pack of Ancient Prophecy. This unbelievable new Trap Card can prevent a player’s cards from being destroyed, and as a special bonus it also Special Summons "Stardust Dragon" right out of their Extra Deck! This makes "Starlight Road" one of the most powerful and anticipated cards seen on the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s animated series. Each Duelist Pack Collection Tin also includes a special Yusei all-foil 3-card promo pack. Each of these promo packs contains 3 cards used by Yusei on the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s animated series, upgraded to foil cards for the first time..

Pokemon:

• Regular free Pokemon Hobby League continues on Sunday afternoons at the Granville store.  The next season features promo versions of the versatile Roseanne's Research card.  Come on in and earn your promo's.
• Provincial Championships are coming up on Saturday March 20th - are you ready?  The provincials will be at the PoCo Inn & Suites hotel.
• We'll be running tournaments (either draft or modified constructed - depending what players want) every Sunday starting at 1pm.

Legend of the Five Rings:

• We're taking pre-orders for the 15th Anniversary edition boosters and starters - we expect them mid-March.
• We'll be having an L5R 15th Anniversary Celestial Edition release event on Thursdy March 25th at Renfrew - format will be sealed, and start time will be 6pm (but check the calendar for updates).
• We're running tournaments every Thursday night now - start testing your decks out and get ready for the Kotei - May 22nd in Abbotsford.

COMICS

You can always see what we're expecting this/next week on our "& Comics" page. Are you following certain titles?  Ask about our subscription service - you can save at least 10% or more depending on how many titles you are interested in.  

ROLE-PLAYING GAMES

Planned 4th edition D&D releases:

• Mar 16th: D&D "Hammerfest" Adventure
• Mar 16th: Dungeon Tiles - Harrowing Halls
• Mar 16th: D&D Player's Handbook 3 - we're taking discounted pre-orders for this one, ask in store.
  

Starting Wednesday March 17th - we'll be running D&D Encounters in the Granville store at 6pm.  Check out the Wizards web-site for all the details.  In short - each week for 12 weeks, players will participate in 1 encounter episodes (1-2 hours), as they progress through a connected adventure.  Players will get special rewards to beef up their characters - check it out, should be fun - new and beginner players always welcome.  Players can bring their own characters or play with a pre-generated one.

Also - D&D Game Day - Player's Handbook 3 will be happening on Saturday March 20th.  Game day events are always a fun time - and a great way to see some of the new stuff in action.  Party starts at 6pm on the 20th at Granville.

We're also still running regular D&D games on Saturday nights at the Granville store.  We're always looking for more DM's, so if you want to set up a game at either store any time, just send me an e-mail at info(at)tcgaa.ca - DM's get to take stuff from our goody box (one item per session).
