Hi All,
D&D Encounters is a go tonight - confirmed: Ryan (DM), Adrian, Jason, Sanae, Alan, and Kia. Chris is a maybe.
On this Sunday May 27th at 2pm at the Cambie store, Ryan will be running a 5th Edition D&D playtest session. He will have pre-gen characters. He'll run it with between 1 and 6 players - so drop in if you can.
Cheers,
Mike J.

Hi All,
Looks like it will be a big group tonight:
Ryan (DM), Adrian, Ewan, Sanae, Jason, Cade +2, and Greg is a maybe. If you get another drop-in or two, might be worth splitting into two tables, but I'm sure you can figure that out as you go.
Enjoy,
Mike J.

Hi All,
Looks like D&D Encounters is a go tonight at Cambie: Adrian (DM), Jason, Jordan, Chris, and Ryan have all confirmed, and Brody is a maybe.
Thanks to Adrian and Ryan who have both volunteered to DM next season. Based on recent attendance, we may even have enough to run two tables per evening.
Last reminder - Mike P is running a WHFRP intro session tomorrow night at Renfrew around 6pm.
Cheers,
Mike J.
Hi All,
I'm assuming D&D encounters is on again this week. According to the calendar, there are 2 more sessions left in this season Wednesday May 2nd and Wedensday May 9th. A new season will start on Wednesday May 16th. For the new season, I have only sanctioned the events to run at the Cambie store, and the season runs from May till August. I am still looking for volunteer DM's for the next season - please e-mail me at info(at)tcgaa.ca if you are interested.
If you would like to request a spot at the table this Wednesday, the form is here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDhqcE5meTBxemFSVjA1NC1lT0N5ZVE6MQ
For this and next Wednesday, I believe you should bring 3rd level characters.
And a reminder, Mike P will be running an intro for Warhammer Fantasy RPG on Thursday May 3rd at the Renfrew store starting around 6pm.
Cheers,
Mike J.
Hi All,
Adrian is busy this week, so there will be no D&D Encounters this week. Apparently we are ahead by a session anyway, so this puts us back on track.
Mike Pagel has given me the following information regarding his Warhammer Fantasy RPG game:
First session is scheduled for Thursday May 3rd aroud 6pm at the Renfrew store. This will be an information and character generation session - so you should come check it out if you think it might be interesting.
From Mike "Instead of giving you cut and paste advert, let me tell you what interested me about WFRP.
The dice. I could talk up other points like being able to overextend yourself to take as many actions as you need/want to in a round, having cards to represent most of the things you can do, having cards for wounds, diseases, and insanities, a party sheet to allow everyone to take advantage of two talents, and some other fun stuff, but the dice are the best thing. Instead of rolling a single d20 like in D&D or Pathfinder, or a bunch of plain d6s as in some other systems, you can actually help tell a story through how the dice come up.
Like a lot of FFG-made games, WFRP sports a bunch of dice with unique sides in different colors. Want to stab that orc? Grab a bunch of blue dice equal to your Strength, trade a few of those in for red/green Reckless/Conservative dice, add a yellow die if you're really good at stabbing things, take a white die for everything in your favor, accept a purple die for the difficulty of the attack, and finally take black dice for everything going against you. Then you and the rest of the table get to figure out what happened on the roll, looking at which dice got which results. It's very possible to succeed at stabbing the orc while rolling a bunch of banes on the purple and black dice to reflect that maybe you overbalanced on the attack and fell flat on your face afterward. Or maybe you make the best stab the world's seen and get a bunch of bonuses because of all the successes, boons, and the comet that showed up on your yellow die. And if you're casting a spell, maybe it goes off but you attracted the powers of Chaos and suddenly you've become a statue until the next turn.
Come on down to The Connection - Renfrew on May 3rd around 6 PM and see if WFRP catches your interest like it has mine."
Cheers,
Mike J.
